Why I am fundraising for The Rotary Foundation
Help us decide which carved Jack-o-Lantern is the best! Pick your favorite. Each US$ 5 donation counts as a vote. Vote early and often!
Rotary District 9980 recently hosted a “Pumpkins for Polio” pumpkin growing contest. PDG Nick Wood reports the contest raised over NZ$ 50,000 and with the District and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation matches, raised NZ $216,486 to eradicate polio.
Many of the pumpkins were only suitable for livestock feed or compost, but 4 Rotarians opted to grow N. American Halloween-style pumpkins. They donated these to Rotary’s global Water and Sanitation/Hygiene (WASH) eClub & D9999 Dunedin Rotaract for a pumpkin-carving contest which engaged over Zoom the No Borders Rotaract eClub to help with safety tips, tricks, and design coaching.
The Rotary eClub of WASH is focused on global Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. The eClub format provides the fellowship of a global community of professionals with a common interest in WASH issues. Funds raised will be used toward WASH projects.
HELP US decide which pumpkin you believe deserves to win bragging rights. We have created three team member pages, one for each pumpkin that a Kiwi Team carved. Every $5 USD raised on each respective page, will count towards a vote. A final tally will occur at the end of November.
