Why I am fundraising for The Rotary Foundation
I’m participating in the 2020 Rotary Peddling for Polio to help end polio in the world. I had been wanting to begin a structed exercise program to take my lifestyle protocol up a notch. When my friend and fellow Rotarian, Jon Bullock, announced this year’s 2020 Peddling for Polio, I said I would do it. Peddling for Polio gave me the motivation to get on an exercise bike and train for this event.
The unfortunate reality of polio is that it can take away a person’s ability to walk. I am thankful that I did not have to deal with polio due to receiving a vaccine in my youth. Knowing what it is like to lose the ability to walk due to a different ailment, then struggle with painful walking, I can sympathize with those suffering with polio. Given that I can walk again with no pain, it's like a second chance. If I can help prevent polio from taking away someone’s ability to walk – I’m in. That’s why I am Peddling for Polio and I ask that you help me raise funds to stop this crippling disease
