Update #2

INCREDIBLE!! Just heading out to do my walk for the DR RON MERGL MEMORIAL ROTARY PEDAL/WALK FOR POLIO and I see I have 89 donations with $8,350 USD RAISED!! I posted some pictures as I am wearing Ron's National Immunization Day India shirt, his NID Benin vest, his Rotary hat, and his multiple Paul Harris (4 sapphires). So many memories flooding back from those NID volunteer trips in 2004 and 2005--people of those countries had such kindness and grace and taught us how 1/3rd of the world's population live: in abject poverty. How could we turn away? THANK YOU ROTARY!!!

WE ARE AT $4505 USD NOW!!! INCREDIBLE. GOAL increased to $5000. :)
My dear friends--tomorrow is the bike ride/walk in honour of Ron and you have all responded to my requests. You have given and given and I am in awe of you and your support. I would hug each and everyone of you if it weren't for this pandemic--which makes your giving all the more meaningful, as I know you are all economically affected during these very trying times. By donating to such a worthy cause, you have supported me as well during my time of grief. I am humbled and am blessed to have such wonderful friends.
Love you all xoxoxox
AND I owe you a huge HUG one day in the future when our paths cross again.
*June PS I will give you a final update next week on the amount raised by all my friends, and by the entire fundraiser.

Why I am fundraising for The Rotary Foundation
My husband, Ron, was a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Niagara Falls, Canada, until the day he died on July 4, 2020, from an aggressive brain tumor. Together, Ron and I were passionate about conquering poliovirus--and Rotary International, along with 4 other organizations, are working on just that--with two countries remaining. Ron and I spent our own money and time to travel for 4 weeks to India, then a year later to Benin, West Africa, to be a volunteer to vaccinate children against polio--amazing trips that made us grateful to live in a country that eradicated polio many years ago. This fundraiser is in Ron's name, to continue his great work as he championed this cause.
