Please assist Rotary Club of Grimsby support the eradication of Polio around the world . Through the efforts of the World Health Organization, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Rotary Foundation polio is only present in 2 remote areas of the world.
Polio is not curable but can be prevented by vaccines. Unlike most diseases polio can be eradicated. It is important that vaccine program is maintained as eradication is certainly possible now.
Our cycling team is now cycling 22kms along the North Service Road heading east on October 24th. Our cycling team has a goal of raising USD 3,250 with USD 2,799 raised as of Sunday October 18th.
A tax receipt is issued in Canadian dollars for any donations. A donation of any amount is greatly appreciated by the Rotary Cycling team.
Rotary Club of Grimsby is contributing to this year's World Polio Day on October 24th by joining other Rotary Clubs in our District 7090 by cycling from from the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the Lake. The US team will cycle the same route on the USA side. This event is also honors Dr Ron Mergl, a prominent Rotarian who recently passed away.
Please join Rotary International in continuing the worldwide fight against polio by donating to the Rotary Club of Grimsby Polio Cycling Team. All donations will receive a tax receipt from Rotary International.
Rotary has lead the world in eradicating polio for the past 30 years and progress has been impressive with 2.5 billion children in 122 countries immunized. Today only cases remain in three countries. There is no cure for Polio and the only effective way to control it is with an effective vaccine program. Rotary has contributed more than USD 1.8 billion to the program.
Our Club is attempting to raise USD3,000 by October 24th in support of World Polio Day.
