Why I am fundraising for The Rotary Foundation

Hi everyone,
I wish to thank you most sincerely for donating to this Rotary Fundraiser page during my recent trip to Nepal.
Thanks to everyone's kind and generous support I was able to raise $2,500 towards the Rotary Polio Fund. Our group of 14 trekkers raised over $60,000 for the Polio Fund, and when matched by the Gates Foundation $2 for every $1 raised, this has resulted in a large contribution of over $180,000 towards Rotary's campaign to eradicate Polio worldwide (I'm amazed by this!).
To hear of your donations coming in when I was trekking gave me encouragement and support, and a sense of purpose. The climb itself to Everest Base Camp was tough at times, both physically and mentally, as was the sometimes harsh conditions we endured, and the effects of altitude.
Reflecting back now, it's been an incredibly awesome and amazing experience, and most pleasing news of our fundraising efforts.
