Update #8

Walk Completed. 1,312.56 kilometres in 61 days. Finished at Santiago de Compostela Spain.
Thank you for all your generous donations for a wonderful cause. Your support and donations also provided that additional motivation to keep going when the going got tough.
There is a daily update for every one of the 61 says at: https://www.facebook.com/steven.bennett.332345
Thank you to my wonderful wife Trish for being so understanding and supportive. I think Trish knew all along if I got to a 1,000 km I would keep going! And of course thank you to the rest of the family for supporting Trish in my absence.
No more daily walking posts I am afraid. Well until the next adventure anyway.
So I am writing this in the Cathedral waiting for the 7:30pm Pilgrims mass to begin. Standing room only most are tourists but there are a lot of pilgrims here as well.
My accommodation is right next to the Cathedral, literally, the wall opposite my window is the Cathedral wall.
A day of mixed emotions. How elated I am to have made it so far and raised so much for the Rotary Foundation. Also mixed now with a sense of loss or something missing. Normal for ending a long distance walk. I always take a few days off somewhere as part of the transition process back to normal life.
It is going to be very strange not to be walking tomorrow. Only 2 non walking days in 2 months.
Thanks to all of you for your comments and support. It made me feel like I was never really walking alone as I had all of you along with me.

Why I am fundraising for The Rotary Foundation
My aim is to walk at least 1,000+ km from the UK to Spain to help make the world a better place. But how? What charity to use or support? There are just so many! The Rotary Foundation gets the money where it needs to go with the lowest costs & always receives the highest rating available from Charity Navigator.

The Foundation provides grants to support projects where they are needed most anywhere in the world. A small sample of recent projects include: Providing safe drinking water for poor villages; Better Nutrition for Women and Infants in PNG, Geriatric Services in Uganda, Supporting kidney disease patients in outback Australia, Stopping domestic violence and abuse in families everywhere, reducing waste in South India, , investing in micro businesses in Fiji, Peace Fellow Scholarships, eradicating polio in the world and many many more!

Please Donate now and join me in helping the Rotary Foundation make the world a better place for all of us
