I look forward to this ride each year, and it places an essential focus on End Polio Now. The endurance it takes to finish this race is a reminder of Rotary’s determination to finish what we started over 35 years ago and eradicate a human disease for only the second time in history. That thought carries me over the finish line each year.

Why I am fundraising for The Rotary Foundation

This will be my 11th time joining Rotary members to cycle in El Tour de Tucson to raise funds for polio eradication. I will be cycling 102 miles. The ride is one of the top cycling events in the United States and attracts more than 9,000 cyclists each year. Through Miles to End Polio, Rotary has raised more than $60 million for eradication efforts, including matching funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
