Thanks to everyone who has contributed to my Fundraiser for PolioPlus! We have exceeded all expectations by raising $70,453 for Rotary's goal of eliminating polio worldwide! My Fundraiser will close in a couple of hours, but the fight goes on!
Several people have asked me to extend my Fundraiser until the end of the month, so I have done that. Contributions can be made up until October 31st. Thanks for your support of our effort to rid the world of polio. We do it for the children, so they may walk!
Rode in the Tour de Lincoln on Saturday, accompanied by two fellow Rotarians from the Folsom Rotary Club: John Messner and Frank Woods. It was a beautiful day for a ride, the course was well laid out, there was a good rest stop manned by lots of helpers from Kiwanis, Lions, etc. and great BBQ lunch afterwards. Great job by the Rotary Club of Lincoln in sponsoring the event!
Got another 30+ mile ride in today, only have one more day to train before my ride on Saturday. Saw another bike accident with someone laying on the bike trail, surrounded by helpers, probably waiting on an ambulance! I am getting very cautious!
I have visited 12 Rotary Clubs & have 5 more scheduled. I am encouraging them to contribute to my Ride to End Polio through my hyperlink or QR code to PolioPlus. There are now 8 confirmed cases of wild polio, 6 in Afghanistan and 2 in Pakistan. We have to keep vaccinating for 3-years after the last case of wild polio. Trying to get ready for my 50K ride in the Tour de Lincoln on October 21. Today I increased my biking distance to 30.5 miles, only 11 days remain in which to train!
visited the Rotary Club of South Sacramento today. Told them of my Raise for Rotary Fundraiser for PolioPlus. Will ride in the Tour de Lincoln on October 21st to raise money for polio eradication. Will raise money through October 24th, World Polio Day. Several Rotarians immediately contributed to PolioPlus.
