On October 24, the RC of Kenora celebrated World Polio Day with a Fundraiser and Awareness day event at Cottage Time on the Harbourfront. The Rotary tent and information booth was set-up and Rotarian's were selling End Polio Now cookies and surprise gift boxes. This was followed up with our End Polio Now Walk to Huskie the Muskie, dinner and information session.
I would like to thank the members of my committee Lloyd, LaDon, Sheelagh, Ailbe and Ron for their support and help for making the Polio Fundraiser and Awareness day a huge success. I would also like to thank Vicky of Shaw TV for interviewing Lloyd on World Polio Day and posting the interview on Shaw TV.
Thank you to everyone for their generous donations.
I would also like to thank our partners, the members of the Interact Club lead by Co President Izzah Imran and their teacher advisor James Trudeau of St. Thomas Aquinas School for hosting a Purple Pinkie Day fundraiser and awareness event at their school as well as talking to the children at St. John Paul School about Polio and Rotary's eradication efforts.
It is because of people like you who make Rotary "Unstoppable " as we get closer to eradicating this crippling disease and keeping our promise to the children of the world for a polio free world.
Polio anywhere in the world is a threat everywhere!!
Our fundraiser was a huge success and Rotary exceeded our goal of $2,000 CAD !! when donations from other sources are included.
A big thank to everyone
