Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever. As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we’ve reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.
Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Rotary advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort.
Today, polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan. But it’s crucial to continue working to keep other countries polio-free.

Please note that year-to-date we have already raised $48,132 of our $100,000 goal, so we are well underway to hopefully reach that goal! Some of those donations have been made by Rotarians or Rotary Clubs directly via MyRotary, so they are not showing up on this fundraising page's total.
We are very close to completing our project of completely eradicating polio, but the last little bits are always the hardest, and we won't be finished until the last natural reservoirs of the disease are gone.

I'm riding again to END POLIO. My goal is $1,000. I plan to ride (on my stationary bike) for 30 minutes on Sunday, November 13th! I'm excited to have your support!
While the road to eradication remains challenging, we have the necessary tools to #EndPolio for good. We must continue to reach every last child with polio vaccines to maintain the incredible progress we’ve made towards a polio-free world.
Cases due to wild poliovirus have decreased by over 99% since 1988, from an estimated 350,000 cases then, to 6 reported cases in 2021.
Help prevent the insurgence of this deadly Poliovirus! It is becoming important that we all take some responsibility help eradicating this disease with a combined community effort.
Rotary launched the global fight against polio in 1985 and since then has helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children and we are this close to ending polio.
