Why I am fundraising for The Rotary Foundation
For the 6th Year, Rotarians Dave and Mark Anderson will be attempting to visit every train station in the Sydney Metropolitan area in one day. This is to raise money to END POLIO NOW. The goal is to raise $500 per station in the Sydney Metropolitan area. We will be also visiting every station on the South Coast the day before.

Monday 23 Oct - South Coast
Tuesday 24th Oct - Sydney Metropolitan (World Polio Day)

What is Polio?
Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system.

Since 1979 the Rotary Foundation has been working to eradicate Polio worldwide through vaccination programs. This has reduced the infection rate from 350,000 children per year in 120 countries, to a couple dozen cases in two countries. We are almost there! We will end polio.
