My name is Sherry Miller, past president of the Rotary Club on Grand Island. When I was a girl, one of my best friends was struck with polio. We were in elementary school. She could not move her legs to get out of bed one morning. She was one of the lucky ones that survived. There were others in my small Midwest community were not so lucky. She still suffers the consequence of the disease today, just as many COVID patients.

Polio infrastructure is on the frontline of health emergencies and was critical in fighting the world pandemic of COVID in 2020-2022.
