Participate for Polio Plus Bike Ride - 24 Oct 2020
Creena and I are planning to ride in the Participate for Polio Plus Bike Ride from the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake on 24th October 2020.

Rotary has been involved in the fight to eradicate polio from the world since 1985. In that year there were about 1000 new cases of polio per day (over 350,000 new cases per year) in 125 countries throughout the world.
In 2019 there were 95 cases of wild polio in the world, located in just two countries – Pakistan and Afghanistan. So the program, based on mass vaccinations of millions of children, has been very successful to date. Of course, the vaccination program has been made significantly more difficult by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Partners with Rotary in the campaign to eradicate polio are UNICEF, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and governments of the world, with the support of many others around the globe.
In fact the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have pledged to contribute $2 for every $1 you contribute – in other words if you contribute $10, this gives $30 to the campaign.
Creena & I thank you in anticipation of your help to eradicate this terrible disease from the world.
