It is November 21st, and I am extending the deadline of this fundraiser for PolioPlus until December 15th as one of our clubs will still be getting contributions until then; and we want to count all the contributions that we can.
There have been no new cases of wild polio for three weeks, so we still hold at only 9 in Afghanistan and 30 in Pakistan. Pakistan has developed plans to increase their vaccination coverage into the most difficult to access areas-they have 300,000 dedicated aid workers still giving their all while terrorists kill their police and military guards. They are angels!

It is World Polio Day! Let's continue to contribute to this fight to end polio! There are now 38 cases of wild polio: 9 in Afghanistan and 29 in Pakistan, but those numbers are less than this time last year! We are making progress. On this day let's celebrate the fact that we have prevented over 4 million children from being paralyzed with our 40 years of polio vaccinations! Let's keep up the fight and eliminate this disease forever!

There are currently 30 cases of wild polio, compared to 40 cases last year at this time: 4 in Afghanistan and 26 in Pakistan. The aid workers are doing a fantastic job, despite the earthquake in Afghanistan and the flooding in Pakistan. We are also doing better with Variant cases of polio, those caused by the oral vaccine, the new Novel oral vaccine is seeing less cases than in the previous year at this time: 150 vs 170. I truly believe that the next two years are critical to our eliminate this terrible disease, so let's keep funding this fight. If we stop now, the WHO says within 10 years we will have 200,000 cases a year and growing from there!
