Why I am fundraising for The Rotary Foundation
On World Polio Day, Beecroft Rotarians Mark and Dave Anderson, will ride the trains in Sydney’s metropolitan area, stopping at every station on the network in one day. This is in an effort to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation’s campaign to END POLIO NOW.
It used to be that trains were part of the polio problem, as they gave the poliovirus the perfect way to rapidly spread far and wide. Then, in 2001, trains became part of the solution, with all children aboard Indian trains being immunised. Now, Pakistan has adopted the same strategy, helping to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.

Since 2018, there has been an All-Stations Challenge in the Sydney Metropolitan area, along with several other cities in Australia and New Zealand, to raise money for the Rotary END POLIO NOW Campaign. The Sydney events have raised over $750,000 to date.

Since 1979 the Rotary Foundation has been working towards eradicating polio.
